The thirteenth in the series. A rich widow bestows one of her properties on the Abbey at Shrewsbury. The only rent is a single white rose to be delivered on a particular day. But someone wants to prevent payment of the rose, so that the property will revert to the widow. The rose is found hacked down and next to it, a murdered man.
